Unable to overcome the fundamental differences between them after discovering Christians' obscure side, Anastasia finally finds the courage to move on with her life; however, she is totally unaware that Christian still wants her desperately back. Soon, the two lovers will find themselves renegotiating the terms of a brand-new, no rules, no punishments--and above all--no secrets proposition, in a proper "vanilla" relationship with no strings attached. But, inevitably, Christian's well-hidden past is bound to catch up with them to finally expose the skeletons in his closet. Is the already fragile relationship, that both Anastasia and Christian so ferociously fought to establish, in danger?

While not having particularly high expectations, it must be said, I did go into this film with an open mind. However only a few minutes in and I already felt the urge to leave and fill my brain with something less awful and mind rotting.

It's not just the non-existent plot and hammy acting that let this film down, although they were major factors, the chemistry between the two leads was like watching two planks of wood getting together. None of what I saw made me believe he was an irresistible sex god with a dark side. And with Ana, let's just say biting ones lip every time something is suggested gets a bit old.

Furthermore, without wanting to spoil, is her IQ supposed to be about 50? I have to ask because she pretty much agrees to everything he says, and not in a dom/sub kind of way, more just because she doesn't seem to have the mental ability to argue. You have to wonder how she's employed in the first place.

I've seen some absolutely dire films but I can honestly say this is the worst film I've ever seen.

Principal photography on Fifty Shades Darker and its sequel Fifty Shades Freed (2018) began on February 9, 2016, in Paris and Vancouver. It was released in the United States on February 10, 2017. The film grossed $381 million worldwide against its $55 million budget, but received negative reviews for its screenplay, performances and narrative, though Dakota Johnson's performance received some praise. At the 38th Golden Raspberry Awards, the film received eight nominations; including Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Dornan) and Worst Actress (Johnson), and won two for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, and Worst Supporting Actress (Basinger).
